Customer Spotlight: Ellie

Ellie has been coming to the studio since the very first day I opened, and she truly embodies everything I dreamed this space would become. She brings light, joy, friendship, and genuine appreciation every time she walks through the door. Nearly once a week, Ellie pops in—sometimes for discount fabrics to use in donation projects, sometimes to whip up something special for her grandkids—but always with a smile that brightens my day. On the harder days, she tells me that walking into the studio feels like a breath of relief and comfort, and that is exactly why I built this community space.

Ellie is also one of many who take advantage of the Community Free Table outside the studio. This table is my way of giving back to the quilting and sewing community—it’s stocked with usable pieces of fabric and batting, patterns, magazines, and notions. Ellie has turned scraps from the table into adorable creations, like a sweet little dress for her granddaughter (pictured above) and scrappy quilt tops that she donates to SF General’s baby quilt program. Another customer used fabric from the table to make a drawstring bag as a heartfelt gift. These are the moments that remind me how much good can come from sharing what we have.

The Community Free Table is available every day the studio is open, and it’s always changing. If you see something you love, grab it before it’s gone! It’s there to help anyone who needs fabric—whether you’re working on a donation project, can’t quite afford full price yardage, or just need a piece or two for something small. It also helps keep fabric out of the landfill and in the hands of creative makers.

And if you’re ever destashing, or know someone who is—I will always take donations to keep this table full and inspiring.

Libra Skies Workshop

We are 2 weeks out from the Libra Skies workshop. We have 5 seats still available and if we don't fill 3 more of them, we will have to cancel the class. Come join us at the studio and learn how to create this beautiful, modern quilt top and conquer your fear of curves. Alison will work with you every step of the way. This is a 2-day workshop from 9am to 1pm each day. Hope to see you there!

Zippie Pouch Fun!

A great time was had by all the students in Sarah's Zippie Pouch class last weekend. And look at these gorgous projects! Don't worry if you missed, we will definitately be having Sarah back again to teach this class…with some more stunning Ruby Star fabrics!

New Fabrics

Parlor by Moda should be shipping this week. I am so excited to receive this vibrant, funky floral in the studio. Stay tuned for the arrival of 12 gorgeous bolts from this collection.

Posh by Moda is another one added to the upcoming line up due to arrive in December. These sultry blacks, greys and beiges are going to make some goreous quilts. I have chosen to pair a selection of this collection with 3 Grunge Basics to really compliment these colors. You can check out all the upcoming fabric collections arriving at the studio in the Coming Soon section!
