Color Contrasts for Maximum Impact

Ever wonder why some quilts sing while other fall flat? While there are multiple factors at play, color choice and placement has a huge effect on the success of your design. In this class, learn basic color theory terminology, then dive into color contrasts that can be leveraged to maximize the impact of your composition. Learn how value affects your perception of a design, and how you can make bright colors “pop” even more depending on your color choice. You will explore these lessons as you create several small raw edge applique compositions which can later be finished as quilted postcards or mug rugs. NOTE: This class is best suited to quilters who have some foundational color theory knowledge.

Students must know how to sew, use a sewing machinge and comfortable sewing a 1/4" seam.

About Michelle

Michelle Trimble pieced her first quilt in college, but waited 20 years to finish it in 2018. Once she rediscovered her love of quilting, she hasn't looked back! She is an active member of both the San Francisco Quilt Guild and Silicon Valley Modern Quilt Guild. Her quilts have hung in national shows such as QuiltCon and AQS Paducah, and won ribbons in local and national quilt shows. She enjoys designing with bold colors and design elements to maximize the "wow" factor, and loves teaching others skills that will help them reach their quilting goals.
