Your First Step Into Quilt Making

Curious about quilting but not sure where to begin? This foundational class is the perfect place to start.

Intro to Quilting is designed for true beginners or anyone who wants to build strong, confident fundamentals before starting a full quilt project. In this hands-on class, you’ll learn the essential tools, techniques, and terminology that every quilter needs.

We will cover:

  • Understanding quilting tools and supplies and what you need to to get started at home
  • Rotary cutting safety and accuracy
  • Fabric selection
  • How to achieve a consistent ¼” seam
  • Pressing techniques that improve precision
  • Basic quilt construction principles
  • The anatomy of a quilt (top, batting, backing, binding)
  • Simple block construction
During class, you’ll create one or two basic quilt blocks to practice accurate cutting, piecing, and pressing. These blocks will give you a solid foundation and the confidence to move forward into a full quilt project.

This class serves as the prerequisite for the Guided Quilt Workshops, where you’ll continue building skills while creating a complete quilt from start to finish.
